Sunday - Wednesday

Last night SUCKED! The day was good... we went to Seth and Lynae's for a suprise 30th bday party for Seth. It was a lot of fun! All of our friends were there and we played poker and stuff. I didn't win this time. :( But Ryan made it to the top 3 (Ryan, Jessica, & Adam - Adam won). AND we were split into 2 different tables to begin with, and Tones was like "what? you're at THIS table, Lyndsey? OH NO!!!" BAHAHA! It made me feel so special and important! TAHAHA! It's because last time we played I did pretty good and I was the one who knocked Tones out of that game. That was fun. Anyway... made me feel gangsta that he was scared of me. ;-) ("gangsta"? whatever.) It was cool cuz Adam, Ashley, and Lucy came to town so we got to hang with them and hold Lucy and stuff. :) She's getting so big so fast! I can't believe it's already been 4 months since she was born.

Anyway... back to last night. So, during the day I had like 3 sodas which i didn't think was all that much caffiene, but two of them were Mt. Dews, and i don't usually have more than 0 - 1 sodas a day. I also didn't take my pills til the evening, which i usually take them in the morning. My pain pills make me itchy and give me hot flashes, especially if I'm laying down and not moving. So I rarely take the pain pills before bed because I wake up sweaty and itchy. Anyway, the combo of all that made me unable to sleep last night. So, we went to bed at about 10:30... even though it was the weekend, Ryan had to get up around 4-ish to leave for a work trip to Vegas. I counted the hours as I laid there trying to sleep... 11:30.. 12:30...1:30... crap, c'mon... nope, 2:30.... I finally fell asleep somewhere between about 3:15 - 3:45ish. Then I woke up again at about 4:15 when Ryan got up. He left around 5am and I didn't really sleep that hour either, and for a little while after he left. I thought about getting up, but i didn't. I decided to skip church and finally fell asleep a little later in the morning. I got up a few hours later, so I ended up getting some sleep in but counting about 5 hours go by before i fell asleep the first time pretty much SUUCCCKKKEEEDDD. But I'm actually kinda glad i was pretty awake to say bye to Ryan. Sometimes in the morning when he says bye to me before work I'm totally out of it and I don't even remember saying bye. But since i won't see him til Wednesday night, i wanted to give him a big long hug and some kisses and make sure he has everything he needs for the week.

So, Ryan gets to go to Vegas for work. He passed these tests and got his APA certificate. So, the Vegas trip is a convention for that, basically. I'm pretty proud of him. :) But it's cool, cuz the trip is pretty much paid for (besides his GAMBLING money), but he can kinda turn it into a little mini-vacation. So hopefully he'll have time tomorrow to get in some gambling and fun. Today was pretty busy so he didn't get to gamble yet. Anyway... I'm just prayin that he makes it home safe and that his back doesn't get hurt again while he's gone. (He tweaked his back last week and was home for 2 days).

Today I've just been hanging out, pretty much doing nothing. I did wash our sheets which I've been meaning to do for a little while now, so I'm glad that's out of the way. But besides that I mostly watched TV and picked up the house a LITTLE bit. I plan to have it clean by the time Ryan gets home (I hope). I better... or I might have to kick my own butt cuz I've been a slacker lately.

Anyway, it's 11 and even though I can't believe the weekend is already over, it is, so I must go to bed since I have to go to lame-o work tomorrow. :(

FACT: I miss my Ry and Jamesie.
FACT: I want all the dang babies to be BORN already so I can hold them and kiss them.
FACT: I love mac & cheese and I want some mac & cheese balls from the cheesecake factory. yuuummmmmm. (and maybe some cheesecake, too.)

Been a while...

Why has it been almost 2 weeks since I posted last? Because our computer has been broken. I was slow about getting it fixed 1, because I'm a bit lazy and 2, because of the whole makeshift Lent thingie I talked about before. :) Also, I've actually been WORKING at work instead of pretending. :) Tee Hee! Well, it turns out that our computer's motherboard CRASHED and the dude told me it'd be just as much to fix it as it would be to get a new computer, almost. So it was worth just buying a new computer. So, we did. We got it last night. And it's nice to have one at home again. The good news is that our hard-drive is fine so we can still get our files off of it and transfer them over to our new computer. Robin's husby Dave is probably going to do that for us, and in exchange he wants our computer for parts and what-not. Fine by me. I wasn't sure how to dispose of it properly anyway. He's a computer-dude so it's a good swap. :)

Anyway, an update about James while I'm thinking about it.

He's doing good! The surgery took a couple hours and they were able to drain and remove the cyst and put his spinal cord & stuff back where it belongs. In the process they had to move/remove 2 bones which is making his recovery time longer... it was going to be 1 - 2 weeks and now it's going to be about 6 weeks. Josiah is due about 7 weeks from when James' recovery time started. So, one week later in other words. CRAZZZYYY! I dunno how she does it! (Nae). We visited him a day after the surgery. He was all groggy and out of it in the morning, but by the end of the day he was almost back to his normal lil self. :) It was cool to see him get better as the day progressed. His temp went down, he ate a little, they took him off his oxygen, they changed him from vicodin to tylenol with codine, etc. We were also able to give him little elmo presents and the ELMO themed easter basket!!!

Here's some pics of little Jamesie in the hospital:

And his recovery at home (watching movies and relaxing!)

Anyway. My new favorite time waster is nataliedee.com. It's kinda a sister site to Toothpastefordinner.com which is another one of my favs. Turns out, Natalie and the dude who does toothpastefordinner are married. :)

Anyway, she's reallllyyy weird and funny, but also some of her stuff REALLY pertains to my life. :)

Uhhh, like this one perhaps???

Babies ARE everywhere! Well, babies and baby fetus's. haha. So, list of those that I know who are preggooo OR just had a baby within the last few months...

Ashley (Lucy born in Dec. '08), Lynae, Carrisa, Sara, Erika, Teryn, Nae's friend Allison from Jr High/High school, Dustin's sister, one of Carla's bridesmaids, a couple of work folks or their spouses... I know I'm forgetting like 100 more people. HAHAHA! But yes, they are EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

Another one I LOVE, entitled "Why I hate Cats"

My faves are "they kill babies" and "floppy". BAHAHAHA!!!!
There are couple more on my myspace if you wanna check it out, or just go to nataliedee.com. IT'S FUNNY. Toothpastefordinner.com is awesome, too, and I think it's a little cleaner. But yeah, she's like me in the fact that she hates cats, she begs her husband for puppies, she brushes her teeth for a long time, she hates cats, she has a sweet tooth, ummmm... and so on. :)
I'm contemplating calling in sick tomorrow. We'll see how I feel. I want/need a day off and I've been pretty sore/tired in the morning since about sunday morning. I've been assembling/building some shelves and stuff, and painting, so it's taken a bit of a toll on me.
Anyway. It's bed time! Nighty night!

PS. "Dunbar" is a DUMB name. are you serious? DUMB-bar. BAHAHA!

My Boys

My little nephew Jamesie is getting surgery tomorrow. He's turning 3 in April, and so far during his little life he's had several surgerys and a LOT of doctors visits. He was born with Spina Bifida. He's a tough guy though so we know he'll make it out fine and probably recover quickly, too. I'm most likely going to visit him on Saturday with my parents and bring him an EASTER BASKET! I got him an ELMO (his fav) Easter basket and Elmo is wearing little bunny ears. I got him a cookie monster stuffed animal, a bubble toy, a coloring book, a slinky with the monkey from Dora, and some easter eggs filled with bunny shaped "fishy" crackers. I guess they're not called fishy crackers if they're bunnies, but whatever! Only a few fit in the eggs so I get to keep the rest of the bunnies, and they're quite delish! (They're from target if you want some, and the brand is "Annies" or something like that). Yummm! Anyway, I'm proud of Lynae and what a super-mommy she is. She's only a couple months away from bringing her newest addition, Josiah, into the world, and she's dealing with James' surgery and his recovery in the mean time. I'm very proud of her and she's been a great example of how if you lean on God and His strength, stuff that seems impossible is no longer impossible. Pretty awesome!

Anyway, I'm PUMPED because my Ryan has stepped up and worked very hard and now his bosses have recognized that and they've PROMOTED him to Assistant Supervisor! (No, not Assistant TO THE Supervisor for all of you Office fans). :) Anyway, I'm so very proud of him. He got a bit of a raise, a bonus and a few new responsibilities. For me, it's not so much about the money (even though that's pretty sweet!) but it's that they've recognized his efforts at work. I know he's been working hard and trying his best to show that he's a good worker and move up in the company so this is just another step. He's not too far away now from making DOUBLE what he made when he started there about 3+ years ago. I love him so much and I'm so thankful that I have a hard working husband. New shoes, here I come! haha. Just kidding (sorta). But maybe we should become more serious about seeing if we can afford to buy a house this year. You know, you can get a fat tax refund next year if you buy a house this year. I think it's worth us trying a little harder for.

I miss everyone, including Ryan. I know I see him more often than some wives see their husbands, but still, I'm not used to him being gone so much. He's been working overtime every day and on saturday. He just went to a Kings game the other night and he's playing magic all night tomorrow for Tones' bday celebration. And then when I have stuff going on it always seems to be on an opposite night as his busy nights. But that's okay. It will make our hearts grow fonder, right? :) Whatevs. I also miss my friends and family and I feel like I don't see them very much. I think we might have a girls night while the guys have a boys night. So that will be fun, and a good time to see everyone. And then I'll get to spend Saturday with my parents which will be nice. And maybe I'll finally get to see Ryan sometime next week. :) I'm also going to my cousin's tonight for a BBQ for her daughter who is turing 5. Wow, those 5 years went by FREAKIN FAST! Hailey is so cute and I like to see her with her little friends, and happy to get new toys and stuff, so tonight should be pretty fun. I got her some little stuff I found at target... a polly pocket doll, a princess coloring book with stickers, a bubble whistle... stuff like that. I wasn't sure what she wanted so I just had to wing it. But are 5 year olds that hard to please? I'd like to be 5 again sometimes.

Well, I better get going. It's 4:30 and the party is at 5:00 and I just might have to swing by Powells to find some fun candy for Hailey.

Here's a picture of my little James when he had to go into the hospital on his birthday. :( Poor little buddy! But he is so strong and really an inspiration to how we can bounce back from hard stuff like this and continue to enjoy life. Look how tiny he is next to the big ol' hospital bed!

Random: Weekend, Showers, Headaches...

I woke up a bunch of times last night with a big fat HEADACHE! I managed to sleep probably a pretty good chunk of the night still, but it still sucked. When ryan left for work sometime in the 7:00 hour, I woke up and still had the headache. It seemed to be getting worse and I was SO scared that it was going to be a migraine! I've only had about.. hmm, probably 3 other migraines in my life but they're HORRIBLE and I knew if I had one I wouldn't even want to move or open my eyes long enough to call in sick. So Ryan brought me the phone in case I needed to call in. I went back to sleep for another hour and a half or so and the headache subsided to almost non-existent when I woke up. I was SOOO glad for obvious reasons. Ryan's such a sweetie and made sure I had what I needed. He also brought me my tennis ball which I use as a massager sometimes. I put it under certain parts of my neck to just put pressure on it. My headache is pretty much gone but lingering a little bit. It's more like soreness/tension in my neck & shoulders. Whatevs. I'm glad it's gone-ish. :)

Anyway, this weekend was fun. On Friday my boss asked me if I had any plans this weekend and I didn't really have much to say. I didn't mention Carrisa's baby shower mostly because when someone asks me what I'm doing on the weekend I mostly think about Saturday and forget about Sundays. But anyway, Ryan had to work again on Saturday (ugh, sucks! but the extra money is nice and we're thankful for that). And I got to sleep in. Later on I changed from pajamas into work-out clothes (not too different) and tried out the roller blades that Carrisa and I bought a few years back to lose weight before my wedding. Well, THAT never happened but I kept the roller blades around in case I'd ever use them again. I never bladed as a kid... I just used regular roller skates and I wasn't even too good at those either. So I'm pretty much a pathetic full grown woman-child (man-child sounds better, but I'm not a man) stumbling around on those stupid skates. I only tried for a little while and Ryan watched me through the kitchen window so that he could laugh at me and make sure I didn't fall and hurt my knees. Him watching me made it even worse! Luckily I only lasted a few mins. But I want to practice so that maybe in the mornings sometimes I can take a walk and sometimes I can blade around on my street to hopefully drop a few lbs. I'm by far the fattest/heaviest that I've ever been and it's starting to make me wanna barf when I look in the mirror. I have cute clothes buuut... they don't always look cute on this body. Even if i just lost one - two sizes I'd be happier and probably FEEL better.. although i could afford to lose like 3 - 4 sizes. :) Proooobably not going to happen unless I miraculously get better and then decide to be a runner or something.

Anywho. Tammy called me later that day and wanted to go to Roseville. We didn't leave Chico til about 2 or 2:30 so we got a later start but there was still plenty of time to shop. We're pretty good shopping buddies because we're both pretty flexible and neither of us like to spend TOOOOO crazy long at each store. But enough to find stuff we like and make sure we like it on. I probably spent the most time in Bare Escentuals. Tammy gave me one of her 10 dollar off coupons which means an eyeshadow would only be like 3 bucks. AWESOMENESS! So I spent several minutes in there trying almost every shadow out on my hand. I looked so purty! Haha. Just kidding. Tammy probably got bored after a while, but it's pretty fun to look at makeup no matter what. Plus, she got a free sample out of it. :) If she likes it she'll go back and buy it. I couldn't choose but i ended up narrowing it down to 3 colors and then to 1. I ended up getting one called "Hottie" (L) and we each got a sample of "Queen Phyllis" (R). Later we got dinner at On The Border which is a yumm-a-licious chain mexican food place. AMAZING dinner. I should've gotten a margarita to go with it. :) hmm, oh well.

The next day was SUNDAY and after church we went to help Carrisa set up for her baby shower. It was a lot of work but ended up looking REALLY cute. We made these big paper things out of tissue paper that looked like big flowers. Dark & light pink and white. They hung from the ceiling over each table. I was a brave girl and climbed the ladder to hang each of them. Danae was too much of a scaredy cat to do it. She stood on a CHAIR alone and had shakey legs! HAHA! So funny. So those were really pretty. You can see them in this pic:

And they decorated the table with pink & white table cloths with cute little pink floral and polka dot printed center pieces of fabric. Carrisa made a pretty cake and all of the gift wrap was way cute. It looked so good in there! Some of Carrisa's relatives came to visit for the shower and most of her friends were there too. It was great to have everyone there to support her and BABY NORAH! She got tons of cute stuff... including a few REALLY cute giraffe outfits that almost stole from her. I LOVE GIRAFFES! I don't have many shower pics but here's a couple of pics of Carrisa and Baby Norah :)

Almost a week ago (last Tuesday) we had a shower for Lynae and Josiah, too. It was great! She had a great turn-out too. We had mock-tinis (basically frilly girly drinks without alcohol). There were too many pregnant ladies there to even HAVE alcohol! :) I also made chocolate covered strawberries which turned out realllyyyy delicious and everyone loved them! The cake was amazing, too, and all of the other goodies were great and went well together. She got lots of great stuff, too. I was most excited to give her a necklace that I bought on Etsy that has both James' and Josiah's names on it along with their birthstones.

Here's the Mommy Necklace I got for Nae...

And one of the tiny outfits I got for Josiah, which he might wear home from the hospital :) Also, a cute sailboat hat that I got from Etsy.

And a pic of the delicious chocolate covered strawberries that I made. I'm so proud!

Usually I hate shower games but we played a fun one at Nae's. :) We had to try to draw a side-view of her on a little piece of paper but we had to draw it on top of our heads so we couldn't see what we were doing at all! Then she picked her favorite. I didn't win, but here's mine...

The face was SUPPOSED to be on Lynae's head, but I guess it ended up closer to Josiah's head. HAHAHA! The shower turned out great. I got to see Kristin, Seth's sister who I don't get to see too often, and Teryn, Nae's best friend from Oregon came to visit with her whole family. It was SO great to see them. And I guess James and her son Caden were little buddies the whole time they were here! SOOO CUTE! :)

Welllll, that's all for now. :)

It's all out of our control. =)

Sounds SCARY, huh? But it's actually pretty NICE to know that someone better equipt than ME to handle my life is handling it. Yes, that would be GOD. haha. I don't know what the heck my life would be like if I were the one in charge. :) Now THAT'S what's scary.

Anyway, I giggled to myself when I finally realized something this morning. Our computer has been OOO (out of order) for about a week or so now. We constantly have issues with the cord which I think we're a little too rough on. It gets all loose and retarded and ends up not doing it's job (which is to keep our comptuer charged and keep our battery from dying). I'm pretty much addicted to brainlessly browsin' the ol' net every evening while Ryan and I hang out and watch TV or whatever. So, needless to say, I haven't had access to my addiction of browsing amazon, ebay, etsy, myspace, etc for hours every night for the last several nights since our battery pooped out.

Now, before Lent started I knew it was coming up and I knew I wanted to actually participate this year and find something to abstain from. I had a few ideas... I wanted it to be something meaningful, obviously, and spend the time I'd normally spend doing the whatever, spending it with God and concentrating on my family/marriage instead. Whichever day it was on my mind, I remember not knowing exactly when Lent was beginning but I knew it was within a few days. Welllll, of course being the big slacker that I am, Lent had begun a few days later and I never came up with anything. For me to be successful with something I have to PLAN PLAN PLAN or I'll just end up sweeping it under the rug. I thought to myself "Oh well, I never settled on anything to abstain from, so forget it... maybe next year". Little did I know, it was out of my hands and I would be giving up spending brainless time (and often money) on the internet each evening anyway.

Now, while I was thinking about this non-self-induced season of LENT that had been laid upon me apart from my OWN doing, it made me think of a conversation I had with Teryn last night at Lynae's shower.

You see, our husbands are very, very similar and have a lot of similar interests. (They'd probably be pretty good pals if they didn't live several hundred miles away from each other). Sports, Magic cards, but most importantly... XBOX 360! These same things that our husbands LOVE, we have in turn learned to HATE because they take our hubands away from us, but anyway! Teryn said to me, with full understanding of what this entails, "I heard that Ryan got the RED RING OF DEATH!". I shall explain for those of you who have NOT yet been inflicted with this aforementioned matter of life and death (at least in the eyes of our husbands). Now, apparently when XBOX 360 first came out, they manufacturers opted to use a lower-quality peice of equipment in their system to save money but it ended up probably costing them more. What happens is, because of the inexpensive, low-quality part inside the Xbox OVERHEATS easily and sometimes it just makes the Xbox game freeze up. This in itself causes a mini-husband-fit, but it's usually not too bad. But SOMETIMES you get the RED RING OF DEATH! The system stops all together and shows a horrible red ring which meanssssssss.... MALFUNCTION'D! So, granted you have the warranty still (which was extended from 1 year to 3 years because of the cheap part) you then have to go to the website and wait for them to send you an empty box in the mail. Then, you pack your xbox into the box and send it in to the manufacturers. They take a few weeks to either fix your xbox or find a new one (or likely a refurbished one) to send back to you. The whole process takes usually about 6 weeks which, for gamer addicts such as mine and Teryn's husbands, is 6 long, dreary weeks of HELL. Now, you'd think that it would be the best thing that's ever happened to the wives of these husbands, right? WRONG! Because for us the (hopefully only) 6 weeks consist of whiney, mopey, bored, bummed out husbands who act like a beloved PET has just died, whom we must console.

Anyway, pretty weird that my obsession and Ryan's obsession have both been OOO at the same time, right before easter, for several weeks.... right? Nope, not weird at all. It's how it's supposed to be. I'm not complaining either.. (well, I am, but I've realized it's a blessing in disguise). It just so happens that when WE are unmotivated, slacking, not in control, GOD picks up the slack and takes the wheel for us. NICE! He takes our intentions.. you know, the ones we didn't follow through with... and follows through for us.

So what does this mean for Ryan and I? Well. I think it means we need to do what was first intended: To spend the time we WOULD be spending doing mindless things, to now spend that time on prayer, reading Gods word, showing love to each other, making plans to have God guide our future, etc. Note to self: tell Ryan of my revelation this evening. :)

Anyway, yesterday was nice. Besides getting to see Teryn for a while (who we don't see much because she lives in Oregon), it was also a GREAT time to celebrate the Condit family and ESPECIALLY the new little sweetie pie JOSIAH that will be here come the end of May. I got to give him lots of little cute outfits (among the other tons of cute outfits), a sweet little sailboat hat, and I also got to give Lynae what I've been impatiently holding on to for a few weeks now... I bought a necklace from Etsy that has two circular pendants. One of them says James and one says Josiah, and they each have their birthstone hanging in the center of the circle. It's SOOO CUTE and perfect! Let's just hope Josiah is actually born on or before his due date of May 30 so that the birthstone is correct. :) If not, we'll just get another jewel thingie. Anyway, I can't WAIT until he's here. I also got to see 3D ultrasound pics of Carrisa's sweetie, Norah, and it's gotten me really excited to see what her and little Josiah are going to look like. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHH!

Anyway, must return back to the real world. Ugh. If I can get a pic of the necklace I'll post it. :)

Here's the sailboat hat:

Now he just needs to get here so I can have a picture of him IN the cute sailboat hat!!!
Until next time........
